"The Reverse Side of the Medal" screened for female inmates
Anna Maxim presents "The Reverse Side of the Medal" to female inmates
In cooperation with the Penitentiary Service and the National Cinema Center of Armenia, the promotion of Armenian cinema continues within the country's correctional facilities.
As part of this initiative, the drama "The Reverse Side of the Medal" was screened for female inmates at the Abovyan penitentiary. To present the film, director and screenwriter Anna Maxim, who also plays the lead role, visited the institution alongside foundation representatives.
During the event, Anna Maxim emphasized that while any woman can face difficult circumstances, there is always a path toward victory and light-an opportunity to overcome hardships and start life anew.
The film depicts the challenges and triumphs of Nazik Avdalyan, a World and two-time European Weightlifting Champion. The screening was warmly received, with the audience reacting emotionally to the story.
Following the film, the inmates expressed their gratitude for the brief escape from their daily routine, the emotional experience, and the renewed faith in fresh beginnings.
Valuing the resocialization of incarcerated individuals and the role of culture in that process, the Penitentiary Service continues its active collaboration with Armenia’s cultural figures and organizations.
